Daniel Theis Signs With LA Clippers After Pacers Buyout
Theis to Join Playoff Contender After Falling Out of Favor in Indiana
Pacers and Theis Agree on Buyout, Clearing Way for Clippers Deal
Veteran center Daniel Theis has agreed on a contract buyout with the Indiana Pacers, clearing the way for him to sign a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Clippers once he clears waivers, sources told ESPN. Theis, who has been frustrated with his lack of playing time in Indiana, will now join a Clippers team that is in contention for a playoff spot. The Clippers are currently 12-8 and sit in fourth place in the Western Conference. The 30-year-old Theis is averaging 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season, but he has not played since Nov. 11 due to a right knee injury. The Pacers have gone 4-2 in his absence. Theis is expected to be a valuable addition to the Clippers, who have been looking for a backup center behind Ivica Zubac. Theis is a solid defender and rebounder, and he can also stretch the floor with his shooting. The Clippers are scheduled to play the Pacers on Nov. 23 in Los Angeles.
